Can I fix this myself?
Usually yes for cleaning/clearing. Difficulty: easy · about 10-20 min. If unsure or the fault returns, use mail-in repair.
What you need
- Soft cloth
- Garden hose
Do this
- Clean filter cartridges/panels thoroughly (fine particles can clog even when filters look clean). Ensure panels are tightly clipped with no gaps.
- For a short test only: remove the filter basket and run 10–15 minutes — if it climbs, replace the filters. Keep hard/sharp debris out of the pool during the test.
- Balance pool chemicals; scrub biofilm from slippery walls. Keep water in the recommended temperature range (about 43–95°F / avoid cold water below ~15°C).
- Clear debris from the impeller. If climbing still fails, request repair.
